On 29 November, the representatives of the Government, the Ministry of Health, and the State Tax Service of the Kyrgyz Republic visited the manufacturing facility of Akrikhin in the Moscow Region as part of a familiarisation field visit in order to observe the labelling of drug products.

The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic came to the Russian Federation in order to study the processes associated with the system for labelling and circulation traceability of drug products used at the country’s leading drug-manufacturing facilities. Akrikhin received the guests, including the representatives of the Centre for Development of Advanced Technologies (CRPT, official operator of the digital labelling system in the Russian Federation) and demonstrated the management and implementation of the procedure at the Company’s manufacturing facility in Staraya Kupavna. Our foreign colleagues hope that this sort of experience sharing will help them advance the labelling system and improve the transparency of sales of goods, including drug products, in their country.

Akrikhin was among Russia’s first pharmaceutical companies to launch a pilot drug labelling project. In late 2019, the first commercial batches of drugs produced by the company successfully passed the required procedures, and the company was fully ready to implement the labelling system. By 1 July 2020 (the effective date of the mandatory drug labelling requirements applicable to drug manufacturers), Akrikhin had fully switched to mass serialisation of all pharmaceuticals produced thereby.

We strongly support international cooperation between our countries’ governments in such a top-priority area for the pharmaceutical industry as promotion of a system for drug labelling and circulation traceability. This will allow for stronger quality control and measures aimed to suppress the circulation of counterfeit drugs, as well as to manage local availability of drugs in the domestic market, since this has a direct effect on our citizens’ life and health. Our company supplies its drug products to the Kyrgyz Republic as well, which is the reason why we are happy to share our practical experience with implementing the labelling system in our company,
